Interesting Intricacies

 Hiiiiiiiiiiiii

I;m in the mood to write a blog post. Not in the mood to do my assignemnts. I have a draft of a 4-5 page paper due monday at noon, and some other projects as well, but I'm in a different mood.

I think it's because I woke up and immediately went on my phone. Bad things happen when I do that. I woke originally at 10:30 AM, but then I was like it's the weekenddddd lemme sleep in. So I slept in and re-woke up at around 12, didn't leave my bed until like 1:30... YEEEOUCH. So I'm in a slumped mood.

I told myself that this weekend, Saturday and Sunday I'm going to lock in an do work. I had my fun times on Friday, I just gotta do my work for these two days. I think I just need to leave my dorm, possibly do work in the library, get out of the comfortable environment where I can go on my instagram and youtube and feel like shit

GUYS

I downloaded one of those sober apps so I can stop myself from going on instegram reels. I had a two day streak until this morning/afternoon where I absentmindedly opened one of those mofos up. I think I might have to expand the scope of the sober app to include any instagram explore page post.

It's so bad. My screentime has gone sooo up. I put in so much work last year to stop using my phone, and it worked! My phone screentime average was at 1h30 a week. I was doing so well, and I was journaling, and I felt fresh.

Now I feel so poopy. But I KNOW I cab defeat my phone because I've done it before. If I can do it once I can do it again. I am at war with my phone

I bought a pocket watch. I went to one of my evening classes without my phone and honestly the only thing I felt like I was missing was something to see what time it was. I've been thinking about getting a watch for a while now, but the only thing stopping me was the fact that I have no wrist space to put a watch. I got too many bracelets. But this is the perfect solution. I also have been hating wanting to check the time in class and being forced to open up my phone. A pocket watch is 1. Awesome and 2. the solution to these problems. It was like $10 on ebay, chill vibes.

Other Things I Want to Buy:

  • A bike. Went to THE bike shop in Astoria with my mom last week, was told to buy a $600 bike and a $120 lock + a $40 wheel lock. We were like nahhh. Isaac told me to look on craigslist for a commuter bike, I briefly did that and most of the options were around $200-$250 with some cheaper (and ofc more expensive) outliers. I'll find one eventually.
    • The thing that was stopping me from getting a bike for all my years in high school was storage space. We have no space in my Astoria abode for a bike. BUT here at NYU there are bike racks in the basement of my dorm, which is so awesome and is the perfect excuse for me to get a bike.
    • I also want to get a bike cuz its so convenient to get around anywhere in manhattan that I end up walking a lot, and if I had a bike, my walking time could be cut in half. Instead of having to walk 30 mins I could just bike 10 mins. Saves me some "commuting" time.
      • ALSO NEW DEVELOPMENT they just added cops to the third entrance to west 4th so I'm being forced to pay every time I take the train down to chinatown. If I had a bike I wouldn't have to do all that.
  • A new laptop. I don't know what kind, but I've been using a school chromebook I borrowed from the NYU library to do work out and about. I have an hp laptop that I own at my dorm, but it's big and clunky and old and the battery runs out so fast and it's fussy and sometimes decides to just not work. Not reliable. I want to get a new one at come point, POSSIBLY ON CYBER MONDAY, GET THOSE TECH DEALSSS YESSSS
  • A flip phone? I'm on the fence on this one. I would still be using my regular phone, but if I want a phone break I can just switch to the flipper. But I also don't want to be a luddite.

As we speak...

I am listening to the archive of my OWN radio show.

Remember how I told u guys in my last blog post that I got a spot on the WNYU radio. Yeah so I've had two shows since then, and I've had a lot of fun. They shouldn't have given me a spot cuz I have too much power. I've never had this much musical power. I'm never given aux when I'm in a group. I can maybe coerce the aux-haver into playing a few of my songs, but I'm never the primary music player. I loveeeee being able to play my tunes and talk semi-endlessly about them. It's much fun.

Lemme put y'all on...

To the archiveeessss.

If you go to wnyu.org and then specifically to the archives tab (https://wnyu.org/archives) you can press the filter button and choose either to play the radio shows from a specific day or to filter for the specific radio show. My show is called "The Sound Between" but it goes on every day with a different host. I am the host on Fridays from 2-4PM. I find it easier to just choose the day (fridays) and pick "The Sound Between" from there. My first show was on October 18th, and yesterday was my second (Oct 25th). You can hear my wonderful voice speaking and everything.

For your easy access, here is the link to the ARCHIVE from my first show. Here is the link to the ARCHIVE from my second show.

YESTERDAY I had Nico DiMaria on as a guest and it was so much fun! We talked about the nyc teen scene from way back when and it was awesome. If u want some nosy deets about that era listen innnnn. It was awesome.

ALSO if you ever want easy access to the songs I play, I also have spotify playlists of everything I play! Here is the link to the playlist from my first show. And here is the link to the playlist from my second show. Tbh the music from the first show is a lot better than the second show. Cuz second show I had to feature the nyc bands a lot and it's not necessarily music I listen to. Basically, listen to the first playlist.

Also, whenever there's a ___ minutes of silence thing, it's cuz I play a song not on spotify, so u gotta listen to the showwww.

+++ if you go to the "Discovered On" Segment on Spotify of the bands Zig Zag, Told Not To Worry, and Decept, my playlist (first show) featured lollll. #honored.

That's enough of that.

Remember how I told you guys in my last blot post that I wanted to bleach my hair and get a tat. Yeah my big urges for those actions have subsided. The hair I'm still willing to do, but the tat, idk... I can wait. I want to think of a design that I like but also has some meaning to it (so it can be justified to my mom and myself). Hair I would still be down for, it would be fun if Mags could do it, if we can actually plan a day to hang out.

I got the heel of my boot fixed. Went to a shoe repair shop in Astoria and got the heel replaced + my shoes got cleaned and conditioned, all for $30!! Awesome. I got the boots for 60 euros in Greece last summer, fully leather. So they lasted a bit over a year (a year and a month or two) before I had to repair them mofos. In another year we'll see whats up.

-----

I've been going to chinatown a lot, helping out with hq and eviction defense and whatnot for the past almost-month. Won't go into detail, but I did want to mention how my handshake with Dante is amazing.

-----

I got a roll of film back like a week ago, I haven't posted anything on my photo account. Should I? I should right... Maybe I'll redownload insta, post a link to the blog on my story, then post photos on my photo account (@images.konstantuba if yo ass forgot).

I've been going through a diagnoal phase. You'll see what I mean.

Media Time I Think

MEDIA TIME

It's gonna be a dry media segment...

MOVIES

  • I have watched only 3 movies since Sept 28th (the last blog post): The Mask, Orlando, My Political Biography, and Growing Up Trans.
  • The Mask was being streamed at hq on sleepover night, I was the only one paying attention. It was a rewatch, not much to say, its a fun and funny movie.
  • Orlando, My Political Biography I watched for my Queer/Trans Cultures seminar class at La Maison Française. Wrote a reflection on it, if u want 2 read lmk
  • Growing Up Trans is a documentary I had to watch for my Anthropology of Gender and Sex class. I have some qualms with it but I think its a good time capsule of 2015 trans discourse.
MUSIC
  • Well I've got the radio show so I talk about music there. But here's the link to my main playlist again if you want to see what I keep on the loop. OH lemme talk about some bands I found recently.
  • I am so mad that nobody told me about the band fluoride. Music so good, why didn't anyone put me on earlier. So good.
  • GOOLAGOON. Powerviolence band that's themed around spongebob. Listen to this song, the sample is amazing. I played it on my radio show yesterday but I need to put the blog on to this too.
  • no right is a straighedge band from the bay area that I just found out about. preety good.
  • honestlty guys just scroll down to the bottom of my main playlist if u wanna see the recent stuff im listening to.
BOOKS
  • No comment because it's the same situation as the last blog post...

I think I gotta start doing my school work. Time to say goodbye.

But First

Here's a screenshot of a scene from Avril Lavigne's music video for the song Complicated. I went through a music video binge and watched hella old music videos I never watched.

This photo is so me, especially the one on the far left. Soooooo meeeee.

OMG THAT REMINDS ME I gotta show u guys Lady Gaga wearing a jacket with a G.I.S.M. and Doom patch:

This was from the Telephone music video. Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. I was gagged when I noticed these patches. The music video is awesome tho.

Okkkkk bye bye timeeee.
